Kaitlyn Walsh, the daughter of a delivery truck driver who works for Main Care/Daley Oil, has been awarded the $2,000 Bill Fischbeck Memorial Scholarship by the Hudson Valley Oil Heat Council. The award was presented to Kaitlyn at the Fischbeck Memorial Golf Outing,held May 13 at the Otterkill Country Club. Kaitlyn, 17, plans to attend Russell Sage College in Troy and earn a BS in nursing. She will graduate in June from Averill Park High School in Averill Park, an Albany suburb. She is a member the National Honor Society. Bill Fischbeck of Wallace Oil in Middletown, a well-known community leader active in Rotary, Jaycees, his church and fire company, died in 1999 at the age of 49. Ron Mustello, president of the Hudson Valley Oil Heat Council, said the council feels the annual scholarship is the best way to keep alive the memory of “an oilman’s oilman.” Mustello is manager of Petro-LoveEffron Oil in Poughkeepsie.
